This newsletter is one piece of the work I’m doing to ensure the successful implementation of Workforce Pell. By providing states and colleges necessary technical assistance to implement the new, complex Workforce Pell Grant program, I hope that we can ensure this expansion of federal student aid can benefit those who stand to gain the most from higher education.
For the first time in decades, Congress has expanded the Pell Grant program to include very-short, job-focused training programs—a change that could reshape how the nation connects education, work, and opportunity. But the success of Workforce Pell will depend on how it’s implemented at every level: from the U.S. Department of Education to governors’ offices, state agencies, and colleges across the country.
Through this newsletter, I’ll share important news, policy analysis, and implementation updates from the federal, state, and institutional levels as Workforce Pell takes shape.
